March ramping down, preparation for winter begins

Claim EA: Professional Reading CPD hours with AMA CPD Home. Learn more in our helpful article and log your hours.

March ambulance ramping was significantly lower compared to the same time last year, with 4,590 hours recorded by St John, compared to 5,460 hours in March 2025 – a reduction of 870 hours. February recorded 4,912 hours of ramping. In anticipation of the usual winter surge, WA health service providers have appointed winter commanders to lead and coordinate care access this winter. The commanders, who are senior clinical experts already working in WA Health, will be stationed at Child and Adolescent Health Service, East, North and South Metropolitan Health Services and WA Country Health Service from April to September.
